gerry kai

  • ASets aside Michael McIntyre, Katherine Ryan & Micky Flanagan

  • Comedy Store’s ‘KING GONG’ Winner

  • Metrolife Comedy Newcomer Winner

  • Comedy Cafe’s Best Newcomer Award Winner

A veteran of the circuit for over 20 years Gerry has performed alongside the likes of Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre, Katherine Ryan and Micky Flanagan to name but a few. In addition he has appeared on radio and TV on a number of occasions. No subject is off limits but offence is rarely taken thanks to Gerry’s refreshing cheeky take on often taboo topics. Gerry has been a regular competition winner and now headlines both on the UK circuit and overseas. An act not to be missed, you won’t be disappointed.

Anecdotal, observational and refreshingly honest in style, Gerry's comedy is enriched by a somewhat unique perspective: Real name Gerry Kyei (pronounced “Chay”), Gerry was born in the East End, but grew up in rural Essex, as a rare black face in an almost totally white and very parochial area (a million miles away from the traditional Essex stereotype towns like Harlow, Basildon, Romford and Southend). In addition to providing some truly original insights into life in rural England, these early experiences have ensured Gerry's comedy delights an incredible range of audiences often confounds expectations.

Starting in comedy as the result of a dare, his rise to headline act was a quick one, scooping a range of accolades along the way including; The Comedy Store’s ‘King Gong’, Metrolife Comedy Newcomer, and The Comedy Café’s Best Newcomer Awards.

Toussaint Douglass is one of comedy’s most exciting and talked about new names and is already making serious waves across the industry. His innovative brand of stand up mixes the personal with the political, whilst adding a uniquely absurdist slant to brilliant comic effect.

In 2018 he burst onto the circuit gigging at top venues such as The Comedy Store, Top Secret Comedy Club, Banana Cabaret, Backyard Comedy Club, The Glee Clubs, Frog & Bucket, Komedia Brighton & Up The Creek and achieved rave reviews for his outstanding performances at several major UK comedy competitions.

Toussaint made his TV debut on BBC Presents: Stand Up For Live Comedy (BBC Three) and has supported massive comedy names including Russell Howard and Paul Chowdhry. Toussaint is currently writing on The Russell Howard Hour for Sky One and contributing to multiple BBC scripted projects.
